- Natural Vitamin E:
(tocopherol) An antioxidant well known for reversing damage from free
radicals,
helping to shield skin from everyday damage. Vitamin E also
protects
our cells from compounds such as lead, mercury, and other heavy
metals.
Vitamin E is complimentary to Vitamin C in it's function, therefore,
Vitamin
E and Vitamin C should be taken together.
- Acerola: (Malpighia
glabra) Considered one of the richest known sources of natural Vitamin
C. Other vitamins present include Vitamin A , thiamin,
riboflavin,
and niacin in concentrations comparable t those in other fruits.
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and free radical scavenger for the
skin as well, and Acerola extracts are now appearing in skin in skin
care
products that fight cellular aging. Acerola also contains mineral
salts that have been shown to aid in the remineralization of tired and
stressed skin, while the mucilage and proteins have skin hydrating
properties
and promote capillary conditioning.
- Aloe Vera: Aloe
can aid in keeping the skin supple, and has been used in the control of
acne and eczema. It can relieve itching due to insect bites and
allergies.
Aloe's healing power comes from increasing the availability of oxygen
to
the skin, and by increasing the synthesis and strength of tissue.
The plant is about 96% water. The rest of it contains active
ingredients
including essential oil, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, enzymes and
glycoproteins.
- Red Poppy:
(Papaver
rhoeas) Acts
as an emollient and a soothing agent.
- Grape Seed Oil:
(Vitis
vinifera) It
is rich in linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid quite important for
the
skin and cell membranes. It is purported to have regenerative and
restructuring virtues and great skin moisturizing properties. It
contains vitamins, minerals, protein, GLA, and some Vitamin E.
Grapeseed
is one of the most common oils used for massage. It is a
good
oil for those whose skin does not seem to absorb oils easily.
Grapeseed
is ideal for use in regenerative products for mature, damaged and
stressed
skin, notably for around the eyes.
- Placenta Extract: A
natural source
of collagen and rich in vitamins, enzymes and micro
nutrients.
Research shows that cosmetic products containing placenta extract are
probably
the most effective skin care products for the regeneration of the older
skin.
- Panthenol: Stimulates
cellular proliferation
and aids in tissue repair. Studies indicate that, when
topically
applied, Panthenol penetrates the skin and is converted into
pantothenic
acid, a B complex vitamin. That is why it is called
Pro-Vitamin
B5. This action can influence the skin's natural resources
of pantothenic acid.
- Green tea:
Helps
block the cancer
promoting actions of carcinogens, ultra violet light. Green Tree
extract is used primarily for it's free radical fighting capabilities,
but has a wide range of applications. Its key ingredient,
Epigallocatechin
Gallate (EPCG) helps block the cancer promoting actions of carcinogens,
ultra violet light and metastasis from an original site in the skin,
stomach,
small intestine, liver or lung.
- Avocado Oil:
(Persea Gratissima) Natural avocado seed oil, extracted from the flesh
of the avocado fruit, is a rich,
viscous oil, with many vitamins and proteins. A natural emollient with
anti-Oxidant properties, it is very nourishing and easily absorbed into
the skin. Avocado Oil is a moisturizer and lubricant, healing injured
and chapped skin. It leaves the skin soft, smooth &
conditioned.
It has a nourishing and revitalizing effect, penetrating well into the
skin. Recommended for use on dry, dehydrated skin and it can also be
beneficial for problem skin.
- Retinol: Pure
and
active Vitamin
A. Another well known, synthetic form of Vitamin A is tretinoin, better
known as Retin-A®. Vitamin A is one of the few substances with a
small
enough molecular structure to penetrate the outer layers of the skin
and
work to repair the lower layers of the skin where collagen and elastin
reside. This allows it to repair and stimulate collagen and elastin,
creating
firmer, smoother skin. This is a good alternative for those with
sensitive skin that cannot tolerate tretinoin.
Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin that
occurs
in two forms in nature. It is found in it's true form (also
called
Retinol) in animal foods, such as fish oils and liver. The body
readily
uses this form. It is an antioxidant, a compound that may protect
against
disease by neutralizing unstable oxygen molecules called "Free
Radicals"
within the body. Retinol is involved in cell differentiation and
reproduction. It also maintains the health of the skin (prevents
acne and dermatitis) and surface tissues especially those with mucous
linings. - Safflower oil:
(Carthamus
Tinctorius) Since it is odorless, light,
and quick to absorb,
it is becoming more popular and favored in the skincare field.
Safflower oil has a very highpercentage of linoleic acid. It,
therefore, helps to moisturize, nourish and restructure the skin.
- Almond oil:
Beneficial
for dry skin
and helps relieve itching, soreness and dryness. It is reported
to
be soothing, healing, lubricating, softening, revitalizing and
nourishing.
Good for sensitive or irritated skin. It is an excellent skin
lubricant
and contains olein glyceride linoleic acid. It is rich in
minerals,
vitamins, and proteins.
- Deionized Water:
Water
with the ions
removed. It is like helping water to become an antioxidant.
- Methylparaben:
Colorless,
odorless.
Active against yeast and fungi.
- Propylparaben: A
totally
inert preservative
used is many cosmetics.
